BIOGRAPHY
painter, born 1969
Ben McLaughlin’s bold use of light and shadow, and his cinematic framing bring to mind a contemporary update of Edward Hopper. Capturing moments of humanity in the banal cityscape and the everyday object McLaughlin often titles his works with contemporary newspaper headlines or crossword clues, juxtaposing normality with global views or random events.
McLaughlin graduated from St Martin’s School of Art, London with a BA in Fine Art, and completed his Masters in Printmaking at Camberwell College of Art, London. He is collected privately across the world and has completed commissions for The Rockerfeller Estate, Pocantico Hills, New York.
