BIOGRAPHY

Born in 1953 in Melbourne Australia, Gordon Richards' career began in the kitchen as a highly acclaimed chef and owner of the innovative restaurant Bendigo in Victoria. Farming his own produce and concentrating on the innovation of new cuisine, Richards relocated to Noosa, Queensland where he finally realized his other talents – painting and drawing.

Richards' love of rich colour, texture and layers stems from his work with fresh food grown and nurtured by his own hands. The results are visual delights, vibrant and accessible, with an exuberance that reflects the painter's spirit and embrace of life. Richards is equally influenced by the 'fantastic light and colours' of his homeland and this inspiration, combined with his innate love of the process of creation has lead to a body of work that never fails to imbue the viewer with the painter's love of nature, hope, and joy at life.
