David Bromley spent part of his childhood in Sierra Leone and later returned to London where he attended Grammar School. His early encouragement came from his art teacher at Drayton Manor Grammar.
The family emigrated to Australia when David was in his teens. He was only 16 and still a student when his first illustration was published in the local newspaper. He initially studied architecture but was lured away when his drawings and illustrations were regularly published in two major newspapers belonging to the Fairfax Group.
David is an Artist, Illustrator and Printmaker. He has won several awards including the Gold Award for Editorial Cartoon in The World Press Cartoon. He has been an Archibald Prize finalist four times and is listed among Australian Art Collector's 50 Most Collectable Artists. To date David Bromley has had over 70 solo exhibitions and is represented in both corporate and institutional collections around the world including:
